Is UV-C Light Safe?
Humans and pets should avoid prolonged direct exposure to UV-C light. Direct exposure results in temporary skin redness and eye irritation. Unlike some UV-C lights, our lights DO NOT produce ozone, a gas that is harmful to humans and pets. Avoid touching UV-C bulbs as the oil from our skin can cause a "hot spot" and reduce the bulb's lifespan.
UV or UV-C?
Although often used interchangeably, UV light and UV-C light have different definitions. Ultraviolet (or UV) light falls in the electromagnetic spectrum between visible light and X-rays with a wavelength from 10 nm to 400 nm. There are four different types of UV light: UV-V, UV-A, UV-B, and UV-C. UV-C light (200-280 nm) has the shortest wavelength and the highest energy. So, UV is a broad term whereas UV-C is a specific band of UV light.
PLEASE NOTE: This unit is very powerful and safety precautions must be followed. Always shine the light down or away from you. Do not look at the light or shine on exposed skin.
