Is UV-C Light Safe to Use?

Just as you wouldn’t pour bleach on bare skin or allow it near your eyes, some safety precautions are necessary with UVC. Whenever a UV-C light is being used, humans and should takes steps to avoid exposure to skin and eyes.

UV-C lamps and lights should also not be touched, used on bare skin, or looked at directly, just as you wouldn’t look into a very bright light. It’s also important to note that unlike some lower-quality light brands, the UV-C products offered at VirusLights.com do not produce ozone - a dangerous, colorless byproduct gas that can be harmful to your health.

Is UV-C the same as UV?

With a big increase in interest and use in the wake of the coronavirus, germicidal products using the terms “UV-C” and “UV” have become very popular. But are they the same thing?  UV, also known as “ultraviolet” light, has a wavelength that falls between 10 nanometers (nm) and 400nm. UV-C light, in comparison, has a much shorter wavelength - the shortest of all types of UV light - at between 200nm and 280nm.
